This is essential to prevent users from abusing trial. Otherwise anyone can just cancel and resubscribe every TRIAL_LENGTH days.

@Gabriel Ferraz just a bump here on this one as a newcomer to the creem family - this is something we directly would have needed (but we found a way around it), and the use case is migrating subscribers from old subscription platform to creem. For now, migrating users of ours, we just did a flow that cancels their old sub, starts new creem full payment immediately, does a database ledger of who we owe what from old sub, and we are going to manually partial refund 1k+ subscribers on our old platform since they started new on creem:

    1. How we were doing it prior to coming to creem: user logs into our site, our logic on DB query shows they are legacy, alerts them

    1. they click migrate, we show the old plan, the new creem plan, etc, they agree to migrate (and our backend cancels old sub for them on the spot), go to creem checkout

    2. To give them credit (since no wallet ledgers yet) for the time their old sub had remaining, we planned to programmatically via API, request a checkout for a custom trial period (different for everyone in terms of days/months), to cover the time from legacy sub they already paid for, to new creem transaction

    3. They checkout, they put in their card info etc, then their account becomes entitled, their old sub cancelled, and their new billing on creem won’t start until the “trial” period ends, being the gap they already paid for

So while I might have a unique case here, adding an extra request/response field on checkout API for saying “trial_days_24” would be amazing when there’s time to add this. It also would be nice for quick admin actions to reconcile or do quick promos, i.e hey customer, for the inconvenience, here’s a 15-30-45 day trial (via admin API request) to our product. Would allow us to not have to make a new trial subscription product for all of those.

    Thanks!

+1 here: When a user cancels then subsequently resubscribe they can avail of the free trial each time. Ideally the trial period could be set on checkout creation, rather than a property of the product.

If I understand correctly - That means that you wish to add and remove trials programmatically on checkout sessions, and not on the whole product during creation correct?

It can be a simple boolean flag, like Lemon Squeezy does it with

      skip_trial
