To reduce involuntary churn and improve payment recovery rates by automatically notifying customers when a transaction fails or when a payment method is nearing expiration.
Requirements:
Failed Payment Triggers: Automatically send an email to the customer immediately after a failed charge attempt (e.g., insufficient funds, expired card, or bank decline).
Self-service update link: Include a secure, unique link in the email that directs the user to a Creem-hosted checkout page or billing portal where they can update their credit card details without needing to log into the main application.
Smart retry schedule: The ability to sync these emails with Creem’s retry logic (e.g., sending a follow-up email on the 1st, 3rd, and 7th day of a failed payment).
Merchant Customization: Allow merchants to add their logo or customize the email copy to maintain brand trust.
Currently, merchants must manually monitor failed payments and reach out to users, which is not scalable. Automating this "dunning" process ensures that subscriptions stay active and revenue is recovered without manual intervention from the support teams.
